Chelsea's Courtois

This year, the third-placed Rojiblancos have a miserly record of conceding just 25 goals over 31 games, four better than Real Madrid, eight better than Barcelona and 38 better than the division's leakiest two teams, Deportivo and Mallorca. In Atlético Madrid's home, it's not so much David de Gea but David de Who with Courtois ensuring the Manchester United man has not been missed for a minute in his two seasons in Spain. "He's spectacular. I've always said he's one of the best keepers in the world. He has no limits," was the praise from Diego Godín, a centre-back who has spent the past two campaigns in front of the 21-year-old.Atlético Madrid fans would dearly love Courtois to stay at least another season, but as Gareth Nunn from the MadridAtleticos site says, "Supporters understand that it is not in his hands. When he came no one really knew who he was and he could leave winning the Zamora (the top goalkeeper's award).A hard-working midfield screen, a decent back four and the physical repercussions of failure, administered by Diego Simeone, are certainly influencing these figures, but the X-Factor in the results is the incredible campaign by the club's young goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois. The loan deal was extended for a second season, but there is still no word on what will happen next. Courtois has spoken about wanting to stay on for another season, but the player's destiny is not in his hands. Chelsea need to decide whether a year of Champions League football with Atlético Madrid next season will be more beneficial to Courtois than a loan deal to a Premier League club to gain experience of the English game as he prepares to eventually take over from Petr Cech. The Belgian is currently top of the goalkeeping statistic charts in Spain having conceded only 23 goals in 30 league games, with 17 clean sheets. Courtois broke a club record by keeping a clean sheet at the Vicente Calderón for 820 minutes in the league. That's eight consecutive matches and a bit. It's no wonder the goalkeeper's name is sung robustly from the stands as another match-winning save is pulled out of the bag.
