The Most Un-Hipster

Barcelona have lost to Celtic and AC Milan before and could only beat PSG on aggregate. Real Madrid lost to Dortmund before and to Galatasaray as well.Every side is allowed to show weakness, every team gets spanked once in a while and it is important to not knee-jerk and say this is the end, and for a site that seems to have a fairly level head and a cynical view of extremist opinion, I am surprised an article like that was published. Barca will be back and they will once again be devastating. Frankly, it is also unfair to these great German teams, who played with flair, passion and discipline to completely outplay what are considered the two best teams in the arguably the best league in the world, by two teams top of what many consider the third best league in the world. Not anymore. Real Madrid its set-up over the last few years has been to contain Barcelona's threat. Consequently, they have never been as vulnerable as this season in the league. Barcelona meanwhile have never been so reliant on one player goalscoring wise as this season and the last. Before they had several 15+ goalscorers in the side, last year, Sanchez, Xavi and Fabregas were 15-goal men, but the main threat was Messi with 73. This season the same is happening, with only Villa getting close to a respectable goalscoring ratio. The most worrying thing I believe, is that all the teams in the semis boasted many players from their country of origin and were the top four teams on the continent, English teams cannot boast such a stat! Germany for Rio 2014!A new dawn in football may have risen, but the decline and one-dimensionalism of the Spanish teams might have been as instrumental to the current German dominance as the excellent development of the Bundesliga-clubs.
