Ferdinand, 34, has been recalled by Roy Hodgson for the World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro. On Friday, Ferguson said he was "as surprised as anyone" by Ferdinand's recall.Ferdinand, who has won 81 caps, has not played for England since the 2-2 draw against Switzerland in June 2011.His international career had looked to be over after he was left out of the squad for Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.However, Ferguson cast fresh doubt on the defender's inclusion after indicating he would only be released with the approval of United's doctor. England play San Marino on Friday 22 March, before travelling to Montenegro four days later in a game which could dictate who wins Group On Friday, Ferguson said he was "as surprised as anyone" by Ferdinand's recall.
