After the international break Chelsea’s match marathon starts with two games in three days as they travel to Southampton for a league game and then play their FA Cup quarter final replay at home to Manchester United.Although they would then have what would, by then, appear like a four day holiday, they have to travel to Russia in that time for the return leg of the Europa League tie.The West Londoners then have two days to return from Russia and recover before a crucial London derby with fellow Champions League qualifying hopefuls, Tottenham Hotspur. If Benitez’ side do manage to get to the final of both the FA Cup and the Europa League it would mean they will have played 70 games in the season. Enough to stop David Luiz getting bored, one would presume.Even the Brazilian centre back would surely wonder how any team could cope with this gruelling schedule, although Chelsea did have a tough run in last season by reaching both the Champions League and FA Cup finals. However, their league form suffered though as they finished in sixth place. However, if they were to win their FA Cup quarter final replay against United, Chelsea would have to play their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City that day instead, meaning the Spurs game would have to be rearranged. The Blues have two days rest before hosting Rubin Kazan in the quarter finals of the Europa League. They then have only one day off before taking on Sunderland at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
