Marseille switch

The 32-year-old told France Football: Given how it has gone for them from a sporting viewpoint, (a return to QPR) does seem complicated.I have a crazy mind and when I have a goal in mind I do everything to achieve it.Cisse would relish a switch to Marseille, a club he joined on loan from Liverpool in 2006 before making the move permanent.Rangers' two-year spell in the Premier League came to an end on Sunday with a goalless draw at Reading and Cisse, whose loan spell at Qatari club Al Gharafa expires at the end of the season, is already talking up a move away from Loftus Road.It would be a dream to go back, said Cisse, "or play for any club which can make me shine.I have Les Bleus in my heart," he said.Cisse is hoping a move back to Europe can enhance his chances of representing France at the World Cup finals next summer.

Fernandes fumes

Fernandes, who confirmed on Monday that Redknapp would stay on as manager for the Championship campaign ahead, has bit his tongue all year about the team's poor performances, but let rip at the players who he thinks have let the club down badly. It's an alien concept to me that someone takes someone's salary, doesn't put 100 per cent in, thinks: 'Oh, we lost. No big deal. What club are we going to tonight?' That is an alien concept to me.Bosingwa received the brunt of criticism from fans for smiling and laughing following the final whistle at the Madejski Stadium despite his team's relegation. And I am someone who has dealt with success and dealt with disappointment. But there is nothing I have gone through that is as disappointing as losing a football game.It was probably the low point for me when I saw the reaction of some of the players Fernandes continued. "It has shocked me because it is something that is alien to me.He added: It's heartbreaking for me when we lose. I don't want to go out, I just want to stay at home.Whatever I have done as a job, for whoever has hired me, I put in 150 per-cent. It's in my character. If I am taking someone else's money, then I am going to work bloody hard for that person.

It's a humiliation

The result leaves both teams on 37 points, five points outside the bottom three, and Di Canio was left to reflect on a 'humiliation'.This humiliation can help the players, the manager, the staff. We need a minimum of another three points. We can do it, but it was unacceptable the performance we made tonight. The Sunderland boss added: "We saw the clip and there is not a bad challenge. In my opinion it wasn't a red card. It's a very bad defeat and our performance I'm not very happy about, obviously, but probably we thought the main job was done," Di Canio told Sky Sports. There was one team that played like it was the last chance of their life, which was Villa, and a team that was probably a little full in the stomach because of the last two wins in a row.If the team has performed in this way, the first person responsible is the manager, and also the players, but the signals we probably didn't read in the week.Sunderland saw Sessegnon sent off with 20 minutes to go for catching Yacouba Sylla with a late tackle, but Di Canio will challenge the three-match suspension which would rule the playmaker out for the rest of the season.Maybe this is a medicine in some way that can let us understand that we have to play with desire, commitment, otherwise we are going to have difficulty.

Chamberlain learning

There is always pressure, but maybe people forget that I am only 19 and will still be 19 at the start of next season. The teenager feels having players who can make a difference on the bench can only aid Arsenal's quest for Champions League qualification, which will continue at relegated QPR on Saturday following the 1-1 draw against title winners Manchester United. When you have a good first season, especially at 18, people hype you up and really want to see you kick on. They expect you to play lots of games and do really well. You always want to start but your responsibility when you are on the bench, especially as a winger, is to come on, change the game and help drive the boys forward, that is what I have been trying to do, to make things happen and add a different dynamic to the game," he said.I have tried to carry on from last season, but sometimes you have to realise that you are a young lad and have a lot to learn.I have been working on things like my team play, my defensive play and getting back into the right positions off the ball and these things aren't often noticed. The experience of being in a club and league like this is a great education at this age.I started pre-season playing in central roles and have played there in training, so I am trying to develop that as well.Oxlade-Chamberlain has made the difference with his dynamic play when being introduced off the bench, notably when helping to turn the game against Norwich at the Emirates Stadium a fortnight ago when the team were losing 1-0 heading into the final five minutes.

Fergie reveals

He is convinced he has the players at the club to provide a solid foundation for the next five years but is still keen to add quality where possible.Older players like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand may be coming towards the end of their careers, but these younger players are the foundation for the next five or six years, irrespective of the players breaking through, like Adnan Januzaj, the Belgian boy, who's really looking very good. And despite not having the spending power enjoyed by the likes of Manchester City or Chelsea, Ferguson is confident that United can be competitive in the summer transfer window.Hopefully the players we bring into the club in the next year or so will be of the quality we need. We're competitive in the market - we're not Chelsea or Manchester City in terms of money but we're competitive. You have to look at the structure of the club at present, in terms of the number of first-team players we have at 23 or under," Ferguson said in his column for Inside United. The Scot claimed his 13th league title with United this season but has already started his preparations to defend that crown next term.David De Gea, Rafael, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Alex Büttner, Nick Powell, Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck, Shinji Kagawa and Chicharito are 24. Jonny Evans is 25 and Wayne Rooney is hitting his peak at 27.

Havelange resigns

The report by FIFA Adjudicatory Chamber chairman Hans-Joachim Eckert also calls current FIFA president Sepp Blatter's handling of the scandal "clumsy" but says it did not breach ethics rules.I have no doubt that FIFA, thanks to the governance reform process that I proposed, now has the mechanisms and means to ensure that such an issue - which has caused untold damage to the reputation of our institution - does not happen again. The report states: "Mr Havelange has long held solely an honorary position, which does not qualify him as an 'official' under the code of ethics. Further, Mr Havelange resigned his position as honorary president effective 18.04.2013.He states: "It must be questioned, however, whether President Blatter knew or should have known over the years before the bankruptcy of ISL that ISL had made payments (bribes) to other FIFA officials.Blatter immediately issued a statement welcoming that he had been cleared of misconduct. The report states that in 1997, Blatter authorised the transfer of 1.5million Swiss francs (£1million) to Havelange after ISL mistakenly sent it to FIFA. But Blatter, who was then general secretary of the organisation when Havelange was president, told the ethics investigation "at that time he did not suspect the payment was a commission. He said: "I also note with satisfaction that this report confirms that 'President Blatter's conduct could not be classified in any way as misconduct with regard to any ethics rules'.

Millwall and Palace

The Lions needed a win to be certain of staying in the division, while a victory for out-of-form Palace would have guaranteed them a play-off spot. The Manchester United-bound winger escaped with a telling-off from referee Graham Salisbury and then set up the Eagles' first decent chance.Palace's Yannick Bolasie almost conjured up a rare moment of magic with a 25-yard drive which was arrowing its way towards the top corner but Forde made a fine diving save.It means Millwall are still hovering too close to the drop zone for comfort ahead of Saturday's tricky trip to Derby, while the Eagles could yet slip out of the play-offs if they fail to beat Peterborough.Just before the break Owen Garvan's chip put Murray through on goal but Lions goalkeeper David Forde was off his line quickly to block.Millwall's best opportunity of the first half came when Andy Keogh pulled the ball back to the edge of the area, from where Josh Wright curled inches over the crossbar. After the break a Liam Feeney cross shaved the head of Shaun Batt and Keogh could not control the rebound, before Julian Speroni sprawled at the feet of Batt to deny the lanky striker.Palace's early-season confidence has evaporated during a nine-game winless run and Wilfried Zaha, so often their key performer, showed his frustration by kicking out at Alan Dunne.

Hunter fee back

The PFA claim they briefed Hunter not to use such sensitive language, and will therefore seek a return of his fee because of breach of contract - verbal or written. If you were looking for a scenario of absolutely everything we wouldn't want on the night, I think you had a montage there.Bobby Barnes told The Daily Telegraph: "We are in discussions with our lawyer and our lawyer is in discussion with the London Speaker Bureau, who we booked him through."Instead, we're talking about a set that was totally inappropriate for our dinner and, more importantly, certainly not what we ordered. The PFA claim they booked Hunter on the back of several television appearances, apparently with no knowledge of the content of his usual act.Whatever he was paid was too much.PFA chairman Clarke Carlisle apologised for Hunter's act, and the organisation released a statement on Monday saying: "The PFA regrets the offence caused by the performance of Reginald D Hunter at last night's awards ceremony in London. We are obviously very upset, because he was briefed. We are very aware that very have a very diverse audience there. I was sat there with Jewish friends on my table as well, and it was as if he set out to upset everyone in the room one way or another. We share the strong disappointment felt by our diverse membership at the choice of language throughout his appearance. There were anti-Jewish jokes, there were anti-women jokes, there were anti-Irish jokes, there was the repeat use of the 'N' word.

Foul Gossip

The paper claims that Carlo Ancelotti has told them he won't be staying there, possibly on his way to Real Madrid, so the French big boys will be looking for a successor. It would seem rather odd for Wenger to go from almost pious parsimony at Arsenal to cash-spunking at PSG, but little things like that are what helps this crazy world go round. And Wenger is that man, apparently. The paper reports: 'PSG's most senior figures have been telling members of their circle that Wenger has been persuaded to leave north London after 17 years in charge of Arsenal.According to this story, Arsenal are hopeful this is just a negotiating tactic by Wenger to get more money to spend in the summer. Stan Kroenke has set aside £50million, apparently. Which is nice of him.Their least optimistic scenario is that he will move to Paris in the summer of 2014 when his current deal at Arsenal expires. But PSG's owners have sounded adamant in recent days that they can tempt him to cross the channel 12 months early.'

Pardew draws battle lines

The 51-year-old has come under intense pressure from outside, if not inside, the club since Saturday's 6-0 Barclays Premier League drubbing by Liverpool at St James' Park. And neighbours Sunderland suffered a 6-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Monday which nudged Pardew's side a place further down the table. Now we are in a dogfight - and we have got to fight. We have got enough character and belief in that dressing room to get through it. We have got to show that now.Newcastle will now head for West Ham desperate for a win having taken just a point from their past three games and Pardew told the Chronicle: "Yes. We have had a really, really poor month in terms of results. Now we have to stick together and get through it.He said: "Even after (Europa League quarter-final exit against) Benfica, a few of the players perhaps thought after that game, we would be all right. He added: As I've said before, words don't win games. They are not important any more.Despite concerted calls for his head over the weekend, Pardew remains in post and is facing the biggest challenge of his tenure to date with a trip to relegated QPR and Arsenal's visit to St James' to come after the game at Upton Park and only five points separating the Magpies from renowned battlers Wigan, who have a game in hand. The performance we put in was unacceptable. It wasn't good enough for us. We are aware of that and we need to put it right.

Sessegnon dismissal

The 28-year-old Benin international was shown a straight red card after catching Villa midfielder Yacoub Sylla with a late challenge during the second half of the Premier League game at Villa Park on Monday. There was nothing in it," Di Canio said. "The leg was not straight. He didn't want to cause any damage to his opponent. The referee fell in a trap. It wasn't a nasty action. He will have his case heard by an independent regulatory commission on Wednesday.Sunderland's defeat left them level on 37 points with Villa and Newcastle United, five points above the relegation zone with three matches to play this season.Speaking after the game, Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio criticised referee Lee Probert's decision to send Sessegnon off.

Jupp Heynckes says

Bayern face Barcelona on Wednesday night armed with a 4-0 semi-final first-leg advantage and are odds-on favourites to make the Wembley showpiece next month. We have to take into account the rival. We have our philosophy on football and this season we have proved that Bayern is a great team playing top quality football. We have our culture and we are capable of scoring goals tomorrow at the Camp Nou," he said in his pre-match media conference. Doing so would be a remarkable achievement given how last year's tournament ended up. Techincally at home to Chelsea in a Munich final, Heynckes men were beaten on penalties as their dream fell apart around them.We can't think too much about the first-leg result. After the match we can evaluate things, but I cannot say which team is the better one. Barcelona have played at such a high level for so many years. Bayern want to prove that the match in Munich wasn't a one-off.When you experience a final like we did against Chelsea, then you understand all the consequences," Heynckes said. "Some clubs give up, but everyone at Bayern reacted in a very positive way. We made changes, signed good players, modified some things, and strengthened the team spirit. He said: "When you coach big teams in Spain, you also incorporate that culture to understand everything better. I know I can return to Spain whenever I want.Regardless of Barcelona's prowess and standing as the best team of their generation, Bayern are not expected to be overturned on Wednesday night. For Heynckes though, the challenge is to prove that last week's result was not a one-off.

Barca are still worlds

Heynckes, 67, who will be replaced as coach of the Bavarians in the summer by Pep Guardiola, is aiming to bow out by winning the Champions League and his team have one foot in the final after their 4-0 win in last week's first leg.We will try to avoid that, but we will not change our style. We want to continue attacking and trying to score goals. We are not made to defend, even if we have a good defence.Schweinsteiger added that the Bundesliga champions will not be distracted by the fact that six players run the risk of being suspended for the final if they are booked on Wednesday night. However, the man who won the European Cup with Real Madrid in 1998 before being promptly sacked, knows nothing can be taken for granted in football. We will try to avoid that, but we will not change our style. We want to continue attacking and trying to score goals. We are not made to defend, even if we have a good defence. It is a Champions League semi-final between two top-level European teams," said Heynckes at his eve-of-game press conference at the Camp Nou.Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is one of those players who bear the scars of last year's final defeat, but he is aware that Bayern still have work to do yet before securing their place in the final.Barca remain the best team in the world. They are capable of doing great things, especially at the Camp Nou," he added, in the knowledge that Barca have not lost a home European game since an inconsequential group-stage reverse at the hands of Rubin Kazan in 2009.

Man City owner eyes

A deal is nearly set, the Times said, to build a $340 million stadium that would seat 25,000 spectators as a new home for the club near the US Open tennis grounds and the home stadium of Major League Baseball's New York Mets. The New York Times reported that Mansour has entered final talks with the US league for a 20th club and is willing to pay a $100 million expansion fee for a team that could be dubbed New York FC and begin play in 2016.MLS hopes to announce the deal ahead of Manchester City's exhibition match at New York's Yankee Stadium against English rival Chelsea on May 25, according to the report.

Dortmund hold on despite

Needing a huge turnaround from the first-leg last week Real seemed to have run out of steam after Gonzalo Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil had passed up early opportunities. The intense atmosphere created by the home fans before kick-off was matched by their team's energetic start and Higuain missed a great chance after just four minutes as he was slipped in by Ozil but Roman Weidenfeller stood up well to block his effort.Dortmund's ascendancy continued after the break and Lewandowski sliced horribly over with a gilt-edged chance five minutes after the restart before unluckily seeing his fierce drive from a narrow angle come back out after striking the underside of the bar. However, after Robert Lewandowski had smashed the underside of the bar and Diego Lopez prevented Ilkay Gundogan with an incredible save from close range, Madrid were given a lifeline in the 83rd minute when substitute Karim Benzema swept home Ozil's low cross. However, whilst still playing with 10 men they had their best chance of the opening period as Lewandowski controlled a long free-kick from Gundogan but placed his shot too close to Lopez who made a comfortable save. And six minutes later they had real hope of an incredible comeback as captain Sergio Ramos rifled a shot into the roof of the net.Seconds later Ronaldo had an even better chance as he too chested down a long ball before volleying straight into Weidenfeller's body before Kevin Grosskreutz could even come on to take Dortmund back up to their full compliment.Dortmund though withstood the Madrid onslaught in an agonising five minutes of stoppage time to seal their place at the final in Wembley next month.

West Ham defender

It's a good club and we've done really well over the last couple of years. Now, I'm looking forward to the next two years.Of course we now plan to build on the last two seasons.West Ham were relegated from the Premier League after Reid's first season at the club. The 24-year-old, who joined the Hammers in summer 2010, has been an ever-present this season, making 33 league appearances and scoring one goal. But the centre-back helped the Upton Park outfit back into the top-flight at the first attempt and has been one of their most consistent performers this season, with West Ham's Premier League status all-but guaranteed.I've really enjoyed being here," said New Zealand international Reid.I think I have played some good football over the last two years but that goes for the whole team as well," added Reid, speaking to the official Hammers website. "Hopefully we can continue that.

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen

Dortmund rested their star players at the weekend in their 2-1 win at Fortuna Dusseldorf, with Robert Lewandowski, who scored all four goals in the win over Real Madrid, coming on as a late substitute. If we play like we did in Dortmund then it's difficult to see us doing it," he said. "But if we play the same way we have played in many games and we have the spirit to win a great game, we will do it.Real will have forward Cristiano Ronaldo back for the game after he missed their derby win at Atletico Madrid with a thigh injury. We are an excellent team and we have excellent players. We are going to play to try and go through. We have to go for it right until the end of the game. Football is football and everything is possible.Manager Jose Mourinho said: "We could play with certain people that we do not normally play with and with an unusual system. So I will not say anything. Cristiano Ronaldo is fine. Alvaro Arbeloa and Marcelo are injured and the rest are available.Real Madrid believe they can come back against us," he said. "And, if they believe so, they will act accordingly. We are ready for Real Madrid to try everything they can and we do not feel that we are already in the final.Mourinho says his team can overturn the 4-1 deficit, a comeback achieved only once in Champions League history - when Deportivo beat AC Milan 5-4 on aggregate in 2004.

Sunderland's revival under new manager

Villa's goals, coupled with Newcastle's 6-0 home defeat by Liverpool, also mean the Midlanders leapfrog Alan Pardew's side on goal difference. The 22-year-old striker tormented the Sunderland defence with a 17-minute hat-trick and Gabriel Agbonlahor added further polish to Villa's goal difference with the sixth two minutes from time. The positive attitude of both sides was to be admired, if not their defending, and Villa were back in front seven minutes before the interval. Sunderland were caught short at the back as Villa struck on the counter-attack, Matthew Lowton's perfect pass inviting a superb first-time touch and finish from Weimann. And to make matters worse for Sunderland, the influential Stephane Sessegnon was given a straight red card in the second half for a challenge on Yacouba Sylla, prematurely ending his season at this vital time. After the tedious surrendering of Premier League status offered up by Reading and Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, Villa and Sunderland approached this game with refreshing attacking intent.Ron Vlaar's thumping shot gave Villa the lead on the half-hour only for Danny Rose to equalise almost instantly for Sunderland. When the first goal arrived after 31 minutes, it came from an unlikely source. Sunderland struggled to clear under sustained Villa pressure and when the ball came to Vlaar 25 yards out, the powerful defender sent a low drive beyond the grasp of keeper Simon Mignolet with the help of a slight deflection off Carlos Cuellar.Andreas Weimann restored Villa's advantage before half-time to set the stage for the powerful Benteke to demonstrate once more the quality that has made him such an outstanding purchase by manager Paul Lambert following his £7m summer arrival from Belgian side Genk.

John Thompson

Dublin-born Thompson, who won three full international caps, began his career with Nottingham Forest as a trainee and played 148 games during a six-year spell at the City Ground from 2001.His Stags career has been plagued by injury and he says the impact the awful injuries he sustained during a pre-season friendly against Ilkeston FC in August 2011 have left him with no option but to retire. He joined Oldham Athletic in June 2007 after a loan spell with Tranmere Rovers and then returned to Nottingham with Notts County in October 2008.Thompson, who has only played 11 games for the Stags this season and has not featured since January, said: "It was something that should never have happened on a football pitch. I had almost 60 stitches in my face, broke my nose, damaged my shoulder and dislocated my finger. While at Meadow Lane, Thompson made more than 100 appearances for the Magpies and was captain of the side that won the League Two title in the 2009-10 season. When I eventually got back playing after overcoming most of the physical issues, I soon realised I was doing things which I wouldn't normally do on the pitch. Panic attacks were common and I would not be able to sleep before games. My confidence on and off the pitch had been severely knocked.I have been fortunate enough to have had a great career and played for some good clubs," Thompson continued. It was nice to finish my career by being a part of a Mansfield Town squad which has won the league and more importantly promotion back to the Football League, where the club deserves to be.But after seeking medical advice and speaking to my family and friends I feel it is the right decision.

Leam Richardson

They have let reserve-team coach Mark Crossley, who joined the Spireites with Wright and Sheridan, development coach John Dungworth and kit man Kurt McDermott leave the Proact Stadium. On Tuesday the club confirmed youth team coaches Mark Jules and Dave Bentley have also gone.Richardson described the feat as a "minor miracle" and his biggest achievement in football, while he spoke positively of his side's chances of a better season next time around following Stanley's final game of the campaign - a 3-0 home defeat by Oxford United on Saturday. Speaking about Richardson's arrival, Cook told the club website:  "Having worked with him before, I'm delighted to have been able to bring in Leam.Accrington's managing director Rob Heys told BBC Radio Lancashire: "For Leam to decide that he wants to move on did come as a shock. You have to say 'that's football'. There will always be other opportunities for people and there will always be people that can come in and take over.Ex-England striker Francis Jeffers posted:  "Gaffer has gone, wish him all the best in his new job. Enjoyed playing for him over the past couple of months. He has great knowledge of League Two, as a player, assistant manager and manager and I'm sure he's going to be a great asset to our club. Now we've reached the end of the season, the conversations have been had again and Leam's decided his future lies elsewhere. I'm sure Leam had a number of reasons and he's chosen to make the move.Stanley players have been reacting to the departure of Richardson, who guided Accrington to safety in the final weeks of the season, on Twitter. And full-back Lee Molyneux added:  "So the gaffer has officially gone. Good luck to him. Done a good job this year and gave me a chance playing.

Christian Benteke

He's been fabulous. He has a big, big career in front of him, said Lambert. They travel to Norwich and host Chelsea before making the trip to Wigan on the final day of the season. For a lad of 22 he has played a lot of high-pressure games for club and country.I thought we were outstanding, fantastic right from the off in such a high-pressure game," added Lambert. "The crowd were fantastic. They identify with this young team and they bounce off each other. The crowd here love him and I can't speak highly enough of him. As long as he keeps his feet on the ground he can have a big career.I know Christian got man of the match but I thought Matthew Lowton was the best player on the pitch by an absolute mile. When you look at his header for his second goal he jumped the height of the crossbar. He has just been excellent. We have been playing extremely well since the turn of the year. They have never complained, never got their heads down and these young lads have just got better and better.Benteke, who was born in Congo but plays for Belgium, was signed from Genk for £7m in August 2012.We have tried to keep them level-headed and keep them believing what they are doing is right. They have got great enthusiasm and hunger.Lambert was delighted with how his young side responded to the pressure of a game Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio described as a "Champions League final".

Neil Lennon on PFA

Lennon and several of his players had spoken of their disbelief that nobody from the team chasing a league and Scottish Cup double was among the top four chosen by professional footballers across the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League.PFA Scotland chief executive Fraser Wishart said: "Having counted the votes, these are the top four as far as the current managers across the SPL and SFL are concerned. The managers on the shortlist were among the five picked out for praise by Scotland manager Gordon Strachan , who also had a vote, when announcing the opening of nominations last week.It speaks volumes about the quality of managers we have in our game in Scotland and, in fact, there are a few more managers who I am sure could also lay claim to the title.Derek Adams, who has led Ross County to a top-six finish in the Dingwall club's first season in the top flight, is the only absentee from Strachan's suggestions.Lennon's Celtic have already wrapped up the SPL title, will face Hibernian in the Scottish Cup final and reached the knock-out stages of the Champions League.Rangers manager Ally McCoist, whose side won Division Three in their first season in the bottom tier, and Alan Archibald, who led Partick Thistle to the Division One title after the late-season departure of Jackie McNamara to Dundee United, also miss out.

David Bernstein

The taskforce will meet for the first time on 6 May and present its initial findings at Fifa's annual congress on 30-31 May.Football journalist and lawyer Osasu Obayiuwana, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay and Piara Powar, head of European anti-racism body Fare, complete the taskforce. In March, Fifa announced the formation of the taskforce and said Jeffrey Webb, the president of Concacaf, the confederation for North and Central America along with the Caribbean, would be its chairman.Fifa president Sepp Blatter said there needed to be stronger sanctions to tackle racism, despite previous misgivings about possible relegation or points deductions for those who offended.Bernstein, who will step down as FA chairman in July, will be joined by Theo Van Seggelen, the head of global players' union FIFPro, and Jozy Altidore, the AZ Alkmaar striker and United States international who was racially abused during a game against Den Bosch.European governing body Uefa has already announced it will clamp down on racist behaviour by players by introducing a minimum 10-game ban for anyone found guilty.Italian journalist Gianni Merlo, Marcel Mathier, chairman of Fifa's disciplinary committee Marcel Mathier, and Claudio Sulser, former chairman of Fifa's ethics committee, are also involved.

Celtic v Rangers

Police Scotland made three arrests at the game, which Rangers won 3-2.The match, at Partick Thistle's Firhill Stadium, was delayed for safety reasons to allow smoke to clear from the pitch.A 19-year-old man was arrested outside the stadium over an alleged assault. Two 17-year-old men were arrested inside over alleged pitch incursions.

Harry Redknapp to remain

Harry will not be forced to sell any players he wants to keep. We had a very good discussion on this.It was a difficult job here, let's not kid ourselves," added Redknapp. "I walked into Tottenham when they were bottom of the League but any fool could have got them off the bottom because they had fantastic players. They were just in a position after eight games they shouldn't have been in. It was farcical how they were there.Redknapp said leaving QPR had not crossed his mind despite what he called a "disaster" of a season.I walked into QPR and I don't think anybody could have got them out of the mess they were in - whether it was Alex Ferguson or Jose Mourinho. That's my honest opinion. So it was a difficult job and it will be just as difficult next year to get back into the Premiership. That was never a question. The chairman wants me to stay and I'm happy here," he told BBC Radio 5 live. "It's a good club. I work for smashing people and I want to try to get the club back up next year - that's my ambition. We'll give it a real go in the summer and see if we can find a couple of players who can change everything around at the club, change the attitude of the club and get the right types of people in and give it a real go but it won't be easy.Redknapp took over the manager's role from Mark Hughes last November, with QPR bottom of the division having taken only four points from 12 games.I haven't said it throughout the season because it wasn't right to be said, but it hurt me when I saw some of the players who didn't feel the way I felt. The former Tottenham boss, who added striker Loic Remy for £8m and £12.5m centre-back Christopher Samba to the expensively assembled squad in January, had managed to guide the Hoops to just four league wins prior to Sunday.

Joao Havelange

Fifa granted International Sport and Leisure (ISL) exclusive rights to market World Cup tournaments to some of the world's biggest brands. ISL also received millions more from negotiating television broadcast rights. It said: "It is certain that not inconsiderable amounts were channelled to former Fifa president Havelange and to his son-in-law Ricardo Teixeira as well as to Dr Nicolas Leoz, whereby there is no indication that any form of service was given in return by them. The company collapsed with huge debts in 2001 and its arrangement with Fifa was subsequently investigated by Swiss authorities. These payments were apparently made via front companies in order to cover up the true recipient and are to be qualified as 'commissions', known today as 'bribes'.Fifa was eventually forced by the Swiss supreme court to release documents relating to the case after it repeatedly attempted to block the release of the confidential papers. The report states that Havelange and Teixeira were "morally and ethically reproachable" for accepting the money. It followed a report by the BBC's Panorama programme in 2010 that alleged three senior Fifa officials took bribes from Swiss-based ISL in the 1990s.The report added: "There are also no indications whatsoever that President Blatter was responsible for a cash flow to Havelange, Teixeira or Leoz, or that that he himself received any payments from the ISL Group, even in the form of hidden kickback payments.Fifa president Sepp Blatter announced in July 2012 that Fifa's new ethics committee would be looking at the bribery allegations. That investigation resulted in the release of Tuesday's report.

Stoney targets FA

We've got a very tough semi-final to get through before we can start thinking about lifting the trophy, said Stoney.Stoney's club, who become Notts County next season, have yet to appear in a major final, whereas Bristol were FA Cup runners-up to Arsenal two years ago.It would be incredible for me personally to get another Cup winner's medal, especially doing it with three different clubs. They then lost out to last term's winners Birmingham City in the semi-final, and captain Corinne Yorston in particular is desperate for another final appearance. Stoney, Lincoln's central defensive lynchpin, added: "The two Spanish girls are on fire and we'll have to be right on top of our game to contain them. But to do it for Lincoln would make it extra special. She said: "I missed last season's semi through suspension, that was a massive disappointment and I owe the club one for that. The men's club haven't been doing too well in recent years, but the women's team has grown and we've got tremendous support. But we've got our tactics in place, and after starting the new season with three wins out of three our confidence is high. We've got a good number of fans going down to Ashton Gate for the semi-final, and we'll be out to make history for Lincoln.

Manchester City to compete

Teams can be promoted and relegated between the two divisions but those in the second tier cannot go down.City currently play in the Premier League, which is the division below the WSL, but will feature in the top flight with reigning champions Arsenal, Birmingham City, Bristol Academy, Chelsea, Everton, Notts County (formerly known as Lincoln Ladies) and Liverpool from next season. The eight-strong WSL has been going since 2011 when it switched from its traditional slot on the football calendar to a summer season, with Arsenal winning the title on both occasions. The Football Association hopes that the introduction of two tiers will increase competition and grow the game in more areas. The second tier will comprise of Aston Villa, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Durham, London Bees (Barnet FC), Millwall Lionesses, Oxford United, Reading, Sunderland, Watford and Yeovil Town. The governing body will part-fund teams in the semi-professional WSL, awarding £70,000 to clubs in WSL1 and £25,000 in WSL2.The Women's Super League has been expanded into two tiers of eight and 10 teams from 2014, an increase from the previous single division of eight. As part of their applications, clubs had to show they will match the funds being offered by the FA and this criteria will be monitored each year with teams holding provisional licences to compete until 2018.

Arsenal beat Liverpool

Five days earlier Arsenal were knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals at German side Wolfsburg and manager Shelley Kerr was delighted by her side's response. We didn't have the rub of the green, but the goals we conceded both came from us having possession and getting hit on the counter,he said. The players showed so much character to bounce back so strongly from Sunday's disappointment," said Kerr. With a crowd of 2,008 cheering them on Liverpool should have taken an early lead when Icelandic midfielder Katrin Omarsdottir sent a free header wide before England midfielder Fara Williams's 20-yard drive flew wide of the Arsenal post. The Reds then pressed straight after the interval, but Arsenal hit them on the break to score a superb second goal.We played some really good football and created so many chances that we could have won by a much wider margin.White latched on to left winger Rachel Yankey's through-ball to squeeze a close range shot past goalkeeper Sarah Quantrill. The Gunners were knocked out by Chelsea at the semi-final stage last season and Kerr added: "The girls were so anxious to make amends for last year. The England striker almost doubled her tally 10 minutes later, her snap shot bouncing back off the near post, and then shot straight at Quantrill from eight yards.Playing at a great stadium like Anfield helped - we were really looking forward to the game and the girls showed they were absolutely up for it.

Grant McCann's stunning

Darren Ferguson's side are now out of the bottom three on goal difference while the Owls sit a point clear. As the break approached, Dave Jones's side thought they had the lead when Gardner met Danny Pugh's corner but his header was just wide. Peterborough go back ahead of Barnsley, who beat Hull earlier on Saturday, on goal difference in the table heading into their final game of the season at Crystal Palace. After half-time, Gayle was lively again but this time Miguel Llera blocked his shot inside the area and referee Nigel Miller waved away pleas for handball.Wednesday now have to beat Middlesbrough at home on the final day to ensure they remain in the second tier. The opener came just after the hour mark when McCann stepped up to fire in a powerful free-kick off the post.A point would have been enough to secure Wednesday's Championship status and they came close to taking the lead when a high free-kick dropped to Seyi Olofinjana but a brave block from Gabriel Zakuani denied the Owls.Leroy Lita, Lewis Buxton and Gardner all missed late chances for the Owls but Peterborough held on and their survival hopes remain in their own hands.Gayle then had a chance to get his 14th goal for Posh but his low effort was easily saved by Wednesday keeper Kirkland.

Brighton secured their place

Gus Poyet's side got off to a bright start when Andrea Orlandi struck the post before Tom Lees's weak pass back to Paddy Kenny allowed Buckley in to score the opener. But an incident during Diouf's celebration, in which he appeared to make a gesture towards the away fans, meant the striker was dismissed and Brighton took full advantage when Ulloa headed in Orlandi's cross to secure the win.Austin then saw red for an aggressive challenge on Brighton striker Ashley Barnes to make matters worse for Brian McDermott's Leeds. What he [Diouf] did is not clever. He has got to learn because he is going to miss three games now. He is really upset but he has to be accountable for his actions. Will Buckley's opener gave the visitors the lead and the pendulum swung further in Brighton's favour as Rodolph Austin was sent off for violent conduct. The hosts did respond well, despite their numerical disadvantage, and Ross McCormack had their best chances with a back-to-goal half-volley which skipped just wide and a rising shot over the top. These things are dotted around his career. He can be a match-winner and I've told him he has to let his football do the talking.Leeds levelled after the break when Calderon pulled Diouf down and the striker put away the resulting penalty.

Hull City missed the chance

Chris O'Grady doubled their lead after 50 minutes with a low effort.Barnsley were handed the perfect start by former Chelsea player Mellis, who was played in by O'Grady inside the area before thumping the ball into the net off the underside of the crossbar. With Peterborough also winning it means Barnsley remain in the bottom three on goal difference. David Flitcroft's side must grab a point or win against Huddersfield to stand a chance of securing safety.Five minutes after the restart the Tykes doubled their advantage. This time Chris Dagnall had the ball pinched from his feet by team-mate O'Grady, who drove a fierce low shot into the bottom corner. Steve Bruce's team have not scored in three matches now and only have a one-point advantage over third-placed Watford going into the final round of fixtures next Saturday.Hull boss Bruce brought on striker Nick Proschwitz, who had a good chance but failed to connect with a header from six yards out.The Tigers will need to defeat champions Cardiff at home to ensure their Premier League return after three seasons in the second tier.

Alan Pardew says

Newcastle's Mathieu Debuchy was sent off with the scoreline at 5-0, while several disgruntled fans at St James' Park left the ground early.Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson scored twice and Daniel Agger and Fabio Borini were also on target as the Reds romped to their biggest win of the season, in the first game since leading scorer Luis Suarez was banned for 10 games for biting. We need to show some discipline. A guy got sent off and we completely lost our way," said Pardew. It is very important now that we get at least four or five points more to get safe. We are in a battle, more so than we have been in all season. We lost a little bit of fight today. The players need to show we have the heart for this," added Pardew, 51. It was a day that started badly and we never really recovered. There were poor goals and defensively we were not good enough.Pardew said he would consider making changes to the side for the trip former club West Ham next Saturday. They were very good and we were very bad. We have to put it right and the only way to do that is 10.30am at training on Monday morning and everyone sticking together

Brendan Rodgers proud

The striker was banned for 10 games and Rodgers said: "Luis was wrong and we take the punishment and move on.Our concentration and focus, as well as our quality, was outstanding and you have to give credit to the players for that.It has been a difficult week as a group and club. It's a great victory on the back of a difficult week.January signing Philippe Coutinho provided the spark in Suarez's absence, with the Brazilian, thanks to his direct running and incisive passing, at the heart of Liverpool's attacks.Prime Minister David Cameron had even intervened in the Suarez affair, saying Liverpool's leading goalscorer had set "the most appalling example" to children when he bit Ivanovic during last Sunday's 2-2 draw at Anfield. He is a very humble boy. He is learning very quickly and has quickly adapted to this country. I think he was born with a football at his feet. He has got a wonderful touch.Liverpool were expected to miss Suarez, their leading goalscorer, during what was the first of his 10-match suspension.Luis Suarez put the Reds under the spotlight after biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic last weekend. But Daniel Agger's header in the opening minutes set them on their way to an emphatic victory which included two goals from both Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge, plus a first league goal in Liverpool colours for Fabio Borini.

Maynor Figueroa

We need to see the extent of the problem, but he is on crutches at the moment. We will assess him.The Latics meet West Brom and Swansea before the FA Cup final and end the season with games against Arsenal and Aston Villa. The Honduras international sustained the injury when he stretched to make a tackle on Spurs striker Jermain Defoe. The 29-year-old suffered a groin problem in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham and was carried off on a stretcher. It is a groin strain. It was [a great tackle], but the groin got stretched and the rest of the body pulled apart," said Martinez. The initial reaction is that Figueroa should be out for the season," said Latics boss Roberto Martinez. If Figueroa is sidelined for the remainder of the campaign, the Wigan ever-present will be sorely missed by his side as they battle against relegation as well as facing City in the Wembley showpiece.

Manchester United ended

Yaya Toure's curler into the top corner sealed City's win, although Andy Carroll's shot squirmed past Joe Hart for a late Hammers consolation goal. The Argentine did not take long to atone for his miss. Yaya Toure, Silva and Nasri combined with some intricate build-up play before the latter teed up Aguero to slot in at the near post.City's 3-1 loss against Tottenham last Sunday allowed rivals Manchester United to grab back the title with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Monday and there was a subdued atmosphere at the Etihad.Almost immediately, City came close to doubling their lead when a Nasri shot was parried by keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, who had to react quickly to turn Pablo Zabaleta's follow-up around the upright. However, with the FA Cup final against Wigan on 11 May, the hosts produced an impressive performance, which only lacked more of a cutting edge as they tightened their grip on second place. In a first half marked by a period of applause in a touching tribute to Marc-Vivien Foe, who played for both clubs and died playing for Cameroon nearly 10 years ago, West Ham's best chance came when Mohamed Diame's volley was saved at the second attempt by Hart.West Ham, whose top-flight safety is all-but guaranteed, had their five-match unbeaten run ended by the defeat and, although they improved after the break, they struggled to create chances. The visitors thought they should have had a penalty when a Matt Jarvis cross struck Zabaleta's arm, although it was more ball to hand and the appeal was waved away by referee Howard Webb. The match soon fell into the pattern of City trying to prise a way through the massed Hammers ranks and it did not take long for City's pressure and perseverance to pay off.

Fulham at Goodison Park

Fellaini will wonder how he failed to find the net in the closing stages after side-footing Leighton Baines's cross over the bar from close range.Fellaini had already forced goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer into a save from a corner when Pienaar's sixth Premier League goal of the campaign provided Moyes with a belated present two days after the Scot's 50th birthday. But Everton will head into the Merseyside derby at Anfield on 5 May with revived hopes of making the Europa League after Tottenham could only draw 2-2 at struggling Wigan. It followed a slick 16th-minute move, Leon Osman's clever pass allowing Coleman to tee-up the South African to place the ball beyond Schwarzer.Manager David Moyes had warned the doubters before the match not to write off the possibility of Everton gracing the continental stage next season.Alexander Kacaniklic's shot had Tim Howard scurrying across his line before Everton responded through Fellaini's goalbound shot which was blocked by team-mate Victor Anichebe. And certainly their first-half performance showed they have not given up on securing a top-five place.Fellaini somehow failed to convert Baines's cross while 19-year-old substitute Ross Barkley forced a fine stop from Schwarzer in the closing stages as Fulham slipped to a 20th straight league defeat at Everton. The Toffees might have lost at Sunderland seven days earlier but they have turned Goodison Park into a fortress at the business end of the season.

West Brom earned three points

Shane Long completed the win with a low strike before Saints' Danny Fox saw red for a two-footed lunge on Steven Reid.Boruc managed to block two attempts but the Baggies forward beat the Saints keeper with his third despite Fox's desperate efforts to clear the ball before it crossed the line. The outcome of this fixture may have little significance on the Premier League table, with West Brom comfortable in mid-table and Southampton all but safe from relegation, but that did not stop it from being an exciting affair at St Mary's.Only a mathematician would argue that Southampton can still be relegated from the Premier League this season, but a win would have got them over the psychological 40-point mark.Referee Roberto Madley, taking charge of his first game in the Premier League, will also certainly remember it.Southampton were hoping to extend the six-game unbeaten run that has steered them away from trouble but the visitors' goalkeeper Ben Foster denied them an equaliser when Nathaniel Clyne picked up Lambert's misplaced cross and fired at goal before Boruc again frustrated Lukaku as half-time approached. Before the three red cards though, there was plenty of other action. The drama was not finished there, however, as first Lukaku put Long through to seal the win and then Madley brandished his third red card to Fox when the Saints defender recklessly launched into a challenge on Reid.West Brom created their first real chance when on-loan Chelsea striker Lukaku found himself clean through only to be denied by Boruc's fine save.

Norwich facing a nervy end

Tony Pulis's direct playing style has been often criticised, especially as results have faltered in a poor 2013, but it was a classic route-one move that brought his side a precious win.The first half was a nervy and largely forgettable affair, with the only clear-cut chance falling early on to Cameron Jerome whose powerful close-range volley hit his team-mate Steven Nzonzi on the line.Adam's first goal since November came courtesy of a Ryan Shawcross long ball from the back, and the Potters doggedly secured three points which should guarantee them a sixth successive season in the top flight.A long ball from defence was flicked on by Peter Crouch into the path of Adam, who took a touch with his head before firing crisply past Mark Bunn from close range. We deserved to win today, we created more opportunities. The three points are vital because we have tough games coming up.Crouch missed a good chance to extend the lead, but the hosts held on easily against a toothless Canaries attack. Our first challenge is always to stay in the Premier League, anything else is a bonus. For Norwich boss Chris Hughton, though, the spectre of the drop still looms after a poor display in which they failed to seriously trouble Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.Fortunately for the Potters, Norwich mustered precious little in response - an injury-time header from Kei Kamara that sailed over the bar being the closest they came to an equaliser. These two sides have followed a similar trajectory this season, with excellent pre-Christmas form being followed by dramatic nosedives since the turn of the year, but Stoke become the first to reach the 40-point mark.

Emmerson Boyce denied

Callum McManaman's stunning strike had put Wigan on course for victory before Boyce's late own goal.Wigan had never beaten Spurs twice in a season and after nine minutes it appeared that would again be the case as they made the worst possible start. Maynor Figueroa, making his 200th appearance for Wigan, hesitated as he exchanged passes with goalkeeper Joel Robles. Wigan, on the other hand, kept creating chances. Arouna Kone might have done better when well-placed twice in the dying minutes, while Jordi Gomez was fortunate to escape punishment after his boot connected with Lewis Holtby's head. But Spurs kept coming, winning a controversial free kick as Walker and Jean Beausejour tangled on the right of the penalty area. This was a result that did little for either side. Wigan remain in the relegation zone two points behind Aston Villa, who play Sunderland on Monday, while Tottenham missed the chance to move above Chelsea and remain in fifth place.Jermain Defoe did, however, find space. The England striker went close after a mazy run, only to be denied by some last-ditch Wigan defending while Bale headed narrowly over the crossbar from Kyle Naughton's pin-point cross. Tom Huddlestone had earlier struck the outside of the post with a clever free-kick from a narrow angle. In their 300th Premier League fixture, Wigan did much to dismiss the growing sense that this season may be one relegation battle too far with a performance that owed more to perspiration than inspiration, but in the end Roberto Martinez saw a vital two points slip away to leave his side facing a desperate battle with four matches left. But within two minutes Wigan had struck back as defender Boyce rose above Jan Vertonghen to thump a header beyond Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris from Shaun Maloney's corner.

Liverpool barely missed the banned

The spotlight had been on Suarez throughout the week, with even Prime Minister David Cameron intervening, saying the striker set "the most appalling example" to children when he bit Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic last Sunday.Pardew had described beating Liverpool as "crucial" - victory against Rodgers' men would have taken Newcastle, who were Champions League contenders last season, to 40 points and, in many people's eyes, safety.Liverpool quickly doubled their advantage with Coutinho the architect. The Brazilian's precise pass cut through the home defence and Sturridge unselfishly rolled the ball towards Henderson, who side-footed into the far corner. It seems improbable that Liverpool's leading goalscorer, with 30 goals this season and a place on the shortlist for the PFA's Player of the Year award, will not be missed during the next nine games.Instead, the Magpies, five points above the bottom three, now have three games - against West Brom, Queens Park Rangers and Arsenal - to secure their Premier League status. But against such obliging opponents as Newcastle, the Uruguay striker's terrier-like qualities were not needed as Coutinho and Sturridge added imagination and spark to Liverpool's attack.Newcastle's defending will have to improve in the next few weeks as the visitors dominated from the moment Coutinho's beautiful pass set Glen Johnson sprinting down the right inside the opening minute.Their manager Brendan Rodgers was dressed all in black for this match, but it is Alan Pardew who will be in mourning as his team suffered their heaviest Premier League defeat at St James' Park.

Barcelona wait for La Liga title

Victory for the Catalans and defeat for second-placed Real would have secured Barcelona the title, but the league leaders must now wait at least another week to be crowned champions.Cristiano Ronaldo was not included in the squad because of a thigh injury and Real's weakened side made the worst possible start as Falcao scored at the back post. The introduction of Lionel Messi as a second-half substitute boosted Barcelona, who had trailed Bilbao at the break thanks to Markel Susaeta's opener.Real added to Barca's frustration by continuing their dominance over neighbours Atletico, even though manager Mourinho made eight changes to the side which started the 4-1 Champions League defeat by Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.Messi equalised by evading four defenders for a superb solo goal and provided the assist as Alexis Sanchez made it 2-1.Atletico started the second half brightly, with Raul Garcia's header tipped onto the crossbar by Diego Lopez and Gabi then squandered a great chance after being put through by Diego Costa. But a minute before the end Ander Herrera found the bottom corner after capitalising on Adriano's sloppy clearance.

Wenger feels Robin van

Some disgruntled Arsenal fans are said to be ready to turn their backs in protest when the teams come out from the tunnel for a guard of honour to mark United's achievement in securing a 20th championship. The manager continued: "It is difficult when the player does not want to be here, to force him to be here and know that at the end of the season the club does not get anything with knowing that he might not contribute as well, so you are twice a loser.Wenger admits it was "one of the hardest decisions" to sell Van Persie - who netted a hat-trick which beat Aston Villa 3-0 at Old Trafford on Monday night to claim the title rather than look to hold him to the final year of his contract. We have lost some other big players like Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, but they had won with the club and they were around 30 or 31.The Arsenal manager, though, can understand the desire of the Holland forward to look to claim success elsewhere rather than continuing to wait in hope for Arsenal to finally come good in 2013.

Terry waiting on Chelsea future

He recognises he is not in the strongest position to go in search of a new contract and that, like Frank Lampard, who could leave this summer, time is catching up with him.Where I would go after that it certainly wouldn't be in England. I couldn't do that to Chelsea or the fans. That's just not me.But Bernstein is due to step down from his role in July and that could be a contributory factor in Terry's apparent U-turn, which could even see him involved in the squad to take on the Republic of Ireland and Brazil in friendlies at the end of May and early in June respectively. But whatever the future holds, Terry cannot envisage himself playing against Chelsea. While Terry waits to discover what his future holds at club level, reports on Saturday suggest he could still return to the England fold despite his acrimonious departure from international football. He said: "I'd love to stay at Chelsea. If that's not the case, I have got another year left which I will honour and respect, regardless if it's a yes or a no.The 32-year-old had the armband taken away from him when he was charged with racially abusing QPR's Anton Ferdinand, and he announced his retirement from international football on the eve of the FA hearing into that case.Naturally it would be disappointing (to leave), but at the same time you understand that you can't be around forever.

Andre Villas Boas

The club is committed to keeping the best assets. That's the only way that we.Bale signed a new long-term contract last summer, and recent newspaper reports claimed it would take a fee in excess of football's £80m transfer record to persuade Spurs to sell.can ensure that we are in the top four every year. And, according to Villas-Boas, PFA Player of the Year contender Bale will resist offers from elsewhere if Champions League football is on offer at White Hart Lane.Gareth is part of that project bearing in mind that he has been amazing this season. Hopefully we can develop him to a greater extent.Spurs will be guaranteed a top-four finish and a return to Europe's elite competition if they win their remaining five Premier League games.

Imran Ahmad leaves Rangers

The move comes following an internal probe that implicated Ahmad in a series of rants published online condemning senior club figures, including Walter Smith and Ally McCoist.Rangers commercial director and Charles Green ally Imran Ahmad has left the club.

Ronaldo misses

There have been rumours that the Portuguese attacker picked up an injury during Los Blancos' 4-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of Real Madrid's squad to face Atletico Madrid this evening. And Jose Mourinho has seen fit to leave the record-breaker on the sidelines for the derby clash on Saturday, although it is unclear whether injury is the reason.
